Around Bushhouse, we offer a large choice of hiking trips inside the surrounding forest, to the small hidden lakes where carnivorous plants grow, including typical villages.

Ampitabe Lake

is an ideal spot for watersports like canoe, windsurfing and sailing. The most wellknown highlight nearby is the Palmarium, a private reserve with lots of tamed lemurs.

SCHOOL PROJECT: In 1994, Bushhouse engaged the local community in reconstruction, planning and further fund raising to rebuilt a primary school in the bush. oday the school has 200 students and one teacher that are always happy to meet and exchange cultural experiences with visitors of Bushhouse. Talk to the teacher and students, and perhaps even join a class to improve your Malagasy language skills.

VOHIBOLA PROJECT VISIT
In order to make the most of the biological wealth of the Vohibola site, in Madagascar, the association L’Homme et l’Environnement is developing aid programmes for the population. It has two objectives: to preserve the biodiversity, and to help the population develop sustainably.

Bushhouse is a small ecolodge located in the east coast Toamasina region of Madagascar, within the Canal des Pangalanes lake district, where fresh water lakes merge with the Indian Ocean.

A unique blend of nature offers both marine worlds within walking distance. Inland, there is a beautiful and quite sweet water lake with a sand beach; while within five kilometres behind a narrow stretch of land separating the lake and the Indian Ocean, you can hear the low roar of the waves. Both spectacles are within view of your bungalow.
