Wild Indian Ocean Excursion
From the Bushhouse, walk for 30 minutes along the lake towards the ocean until you reach a small river. The only way to cross is by pirogue - a traditional dugout canoe, which is basically a hollowed tree trunk. On the other side you can see a little village. Just wave to the locals and they will be happy to paddle you over this narrow creek at a small cost. Walk through the village across the railway and you will reach an unspoilt, endless stretch of beach.Alternatively, Bushhouse can take you by speed boat across the Ampitabe Lake to reach this wild beach of the Indian Ocean, at a price of 40000fmg per person. However, we do not recommend swimming here due to the strong currents.
