A direct trail is available only to 4-wheel drive adventurers. Road winds through mountainous terrain and costal forest.
If you chose to travel the complete distance by car, the junction where the road leads to Ankanin’ny Nofy can be found along the main road 280km from Antananarivo, or 180km from Tamatave. While the main road is tarred, the remaining 26km dirt-road leading to Ankanin’ny Nofy is in poor state and takes 2 hours to drive. If you are coming with your own vehicle, please contact us beforehand for up-to-date information on the state of the road. We only recommend the road during dry season (April till October). Avoid in all cases the Monsoon season (December, January).
